ARTISTS STATEMENT

"Right now I am dividing my time between three mediums, oil, conte and acrylic while I focus on three different subjects, the Portrait, California Missions and Visual Poetry.
The pleasure of drawing and painting for me is endless. I hope that looking at my paintings with both the eye and the mind that the viewer will experience the emotion and pleasure I have felt."

Diana was born in Montreal to Kathleen Hogle, an illustrator for a Canadian Medical Journal and to Gordon Gifford, a Stock Broker in Montreal and Los Angeles.  Di moved with her family to Pasadena California in 1952

Diana could see that her passion for painting was a dream to follow and she does. Diana studied art at The Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles and continued to the Art School in Peterborough with many workshops in between. Diana moved with her husband Jim and three children from California in 1978 back to Ontario, Canada to live in Caledon and then Collingwood, Ontario. Di now resides in Peterborough, Ontario where she divides her time between Peterborough and her beloved Stony Lake Island.

Diana was the first Chairperson at the Art School of Peterborough and has been teaching portrait, painting and drawing there for the past ten years.
